Patio Lane Home is a family-owned custom cushion, fabric, and outdoor living company rooted in craftsmanship, quality materials, and personal service. From custom outdoor cushions and outdoor curtains to premium fabrics, pillows, swing bed cushions, shade solutions, and finished soft goods, we help customers create comfortable spaces that feel personal, polished, and made to fit.
Our story began in Clearwater, Florida, in 1985, when Steven and Deborah Schechner opened Awning Works Inc. What started as a family business focused on awnings, canopies, and shade solutions grew into a larger vision for custom outdoor living. Their sons, Jarrett and Jeremy, grew up around the business, learning the trade from the ground up. Over the years, they were exposed to every part of the process, from fabric selection and fabrication to welding, installation, customer service, and the importance of doing the job right.
That hands-on beginning still shapes Patio Lane Home today.
A Family Business Built on Experience
For our family, this business has always been more than selling products. It has been about helping people improve the spaces where they gather, relax, entertain, and enjoy everyday life. The experience built through Awning Works gave us a deep understanding of outdoor materials, performance fabrics, shade products, sewing, fabrication, and custom project details.
Jarrett continued working closely with architects, designers, builders, and customers on awning, canopy, and shade projects through Awning Works. Jeremy expanded the company and helped bring the family business online by launching an eCommerce Division to offer the same trusted fabrics used in the awning business to customers across the country. Further expansion provided a simple way for customers to order custom-sized fabric products for outdoor and indoor needs. Wendy later joined the family business, helping grow the marketing side and support the vision for a more complete indoor and outdoor living brand.
As the business evolved, Patio Lane Home became the place where our family’s experience in fabrics, fabrication, shade, and custom soft goods came together.
